ERIS: From Darwin's Theory of Evolution to Cosmic Evolution

The Millennium Nucleus ERIS (Evolutionary Reconstruction of the InterStellar medium) will apply one of the principles of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution – descent with modification – to cosmic evolution. ERIS is lead by Paula Jofre (director, Universidad Diego Portales), Patricia Tissera (co-director, Pontifica Universidad Catolica), Evelyn Johnston (PI, UDP) and Alvaro Rojas( PI, PUC).

Our group will contribute with the chemo-dynamical simulations which will be used to develop and test new algorithms and will provide the physical understanding to interpret the outcomes.

ERIS is a challenging, interdisciplinary project that brings together observational and theoretical astrophysics, biologists and mathematicians to develop a new field of research to understand cosmic evolution.
